First Aid Kit is the musical coupling of sisters Johanna and Klara Söderberg, whose close vocal harmonies and woodsy, folk-influenced songwriting take influence from the likes of Fleet Foxes and Joanna Newsom. Hailing from Enskede, a southern suburb of Stockholm, the teenaged siblings began composing songs in 2007. Their YouTube video cover of Tiger Mountain Peasant Song by the Fleet Foxes spread their name rapidly on the Internet and audiences around the world have since been falling at their feet.

Fast forward to 1998 when Erixon’s grandson, Roland Hjort, joined up with Lena Patriksson and Jonas Clason to launch Whyred, a label with both familial and conceptual ties to the world of art.

This season, they’ve drawn inspiration from the distorted realities created by acclaimed director Chris Cunningham to create a range of looks that balance technology and simplicity. It’s clean cut, sleek and will surely carry you through this season and the next.

The night was a hoot, a big shout out to the staff at Collingwood World who helped make the night extra special with their wonderful hospitality.

Here is a little snap from the Gallery Fashion Fair in Copenhagen to make those manning the fort back home just a little jealous.

The weather may be dismal but the collections have made it all worthwhile. Every time we visit these fairs we leave with a renewed sense of inspiration sparked by the incredible array of talent on display. Expect to see a few new labels popping up in the store in the months to come.

Harking back to the good ol’ days of the seventies, this collection emphasises the connection between fashion and history. The seasonally appropriate colour palette ranges from muted blues and greys to vibrant reds and yellows. As always, there is a clear focus on texture and fabric to create light and wearable pieces for the warmer months ahead.

A selection of tops, jackets and dresses are now available in store.

We’ve just received two new styles from these talented young boot makers. There’s Hermine – the button-cute buckle-up leather number, and Ivy – a slightly more sophisticated lace-up available in leather and suede. Both are specifically designed for crunching those last few remaining autumn leaves and keeping your lower extremities high and dry in these sodden months.

An exhibition by Sarah Hankinson

Sarah Hankinson will be exhibiting her latest work entitled “Rasberry Tarts” at Somewhere Gallery as part of an exclusive shopping event during Melbourne Spring Fashion Week, September 2010.

“I wanted to play on the sensual, delicious, decadence and richness of French pastries and sweets, naming each subject after a sweet and relating it to her in some way through both colour and texture.
Several of the works are in collaboration with local Melbourne photographers including She is Frank and Elvina-Mae Farkas, their  beautiful portraits being the basis for several of the illustrations .

Each piece is made up of mixed media, primarily pencil and encompassing lashings of vibrant colour. Hankinson’s works are ultra feminine, glamorous, chic and always sexy.

Sarah’s illustrations have been featured in several fashion publications including YEN, Cleo and Shop Til You Drop..

Rasberry tarts will run from Thursday the 2^nd of September – (Opening night) through to September 30, 2010
